Cardinals take care of business on the road.

Cardinals take care of business on the road.

On Tuesday, January 14th, the Cardinals faced the Indiana University Northwest RedHawks in Gary, IN. Both teams were matched up very well, but the Cardinals would prove to be the better team, getting the win, 72-62.

The Cardinals began the game on a good foot by putting the first points on the board. Both teams were well-matched in size and talent which kept the game close and filled with energy. Coach Dave Jardine looked to his bench to play some quality minutes due to senior starting guard, Matt Little, being out due to flu-like symptoms. The Cardinals pulled together and played hard on both ends of the court. The game was tight with neither team leading by more than 5 points at anytime. The Cardinals had the lead by 5 with only 1:00 remaining on the clock which forced the RedHawks to foul. Junior Orelus and Tyler Wooldridge stepped up and helped seal the game from the free throw line.

The Cardinals shot 46% (22-47) for the game. They pulled down 40 boards while limiting their opponent to 24. Tyler Wooldridge led all scorers with 26 points. Junior Orelus added 15 points while grabbing 7 rebounds. Freshman forward Robert Moon chipped in 8 points and 5 rebounds in his second college career start.

The Cardinals will be heading to Keene, TX for the weekend where they will play in the Southwestern Adventist University MLK Tournament.
